Liberia reiterated Friday before the United Nations Security Council its firm support for the initiative for autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty, aimed at reaching a definitive solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
“We support Morocco’s autonomy proposal,” emphasized Lewis Garseedah Brown II, Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, in his explanation of vote following the non-renewal of MINURSO’s mandate.
In this regard, the ambassador affirmed that “the passage of time cannot substitute for progress toward peace,” while expressing the hope that a serious commitment and “full cooperation” would materialize with a view to reaching a definitive solution based on the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative.
