In his opening remarks at the onset of this 8th session, Dr. Kouyaté stated that “the Republic of Guinea reaffirms its steadfast and unwavering support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara and for Morocco’s sovereignty over this part of its territory.”

The Guinean minister also reaffirmed that his country “supports autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the sole solution to this dispute, as advocated by Morocco before the UN Security Council.”

The Guinean foreign minister added that “opening the Consulate General of the Republic of Guinea in Dakhla is a concrete expression of this principled position and a symbol of unwavering solidarity.”

For his part, Bourita reiterated the gratitude of the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco for the unconditional support consistently extended by the Republic of Guinea, as evidenced by its positions across various regional and international fora, as well as through opening the Consulate General of the Republic of Guinea in Dakhla in January 2020.
