Morocco is an “essential” and a long-standing partner to the United States, underlined U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson during a congressional hearing held Wednesday, while recalling his country’s historic decision to recognize the Kingdom’s sovereignty over its Sahara.

On the eve of the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump slated for Monday, the congressman recalled the proclamation issued by Trump during his first term and which recognizes Morocco’s full sovereignty over its Sahara.
