Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Union of Comoros, Mbae Mohamed, reiterated his country’s support to Morocco’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty on the entirety of its territory, including the Sahara region.
In a joint communiqué signed during a meeting held on Thursday in New York with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the Comorian Minister reaffirmed his country’s support to the autonomy plan, presented by the Kingdom, as the only serious, realistic and credible solution to put an end to this regional conflict.
He also lauded United Nations’ efforts as the exclusive framework to achieve a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the Sahara dispute.
For his part, Bourita thanked Mbae Mohamed for this brotherly country’s constant and firm support to the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara.
The Minister also welcomed the opening of a Consulate General of the Union of the Comoros in Laâyoune, expressing his delight that this friendly country was the first to open a Consulate General in the southern provinces in December 2019.
