During the meeting, Jakab reiterated his country’s support for the Moroccan autonomy plan for the southern provinces, as a “permanent solution” to the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, the same source stressed.

Both parties highlighted the strong historical relations between Morocco and Hungary, and expressed their willingness to boost cooperation between the two parliamentary institutions, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

On this occasion, the Hungarian official stated that his country considers Morocco to be a strategic partner, recalling that both parties share the same values of respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, and the adequate management of migration issues.

Jakab also emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening cooperation between Morocco and Hungary, underlining the need to bolster coordination and the exchange of visits and expertise between the two legislative institutions.

For his part, Talbi Alami highlighted the opportunities for improving economic, commercial, tourism and technological exchanges between the two countries, referring in this respect to the major projects implemented under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, notably in the fields of infrastructure, renewable energies, the fight against climate change, water desalination, social protection and the health and education systems.

He also expressed his thanks to the Republic of Hungary for its stance in support of Morocco’s territorial integrity and respect for the sovereignty of States, welcoming the strong momentum behind this national issue and the broad support for the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Morocco-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group Abdelfettah El Aouni and Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to Rabat Miklós Tromler.
