The Dominican Republic reaffirmed, Monday in New York, its support for Morocco’s efforts to find a credible and acceptable political solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, emphasizing that the Autonomy initiative is the basis for this settlement.
Speaking before the 4th Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, the representative of the Dominican Republic also welcomed the momentum of international support for the Moroccan Autonomy plan, urging the parties to commit to this momentum to achieve a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable political solution.
The diplomat also referred to the efforts made by the UN Secretary-General to find a realistic and lasting solution to this artificial conflict, as well as the work of his Personal Envoy for the Moroccan Sahara aimed at relaunching the political process under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General.
