Saint Vincent and the Grenadines reiterated, Tuesday in New York, its support for Morocco’s Autonomy plan, “the only solution” to definitively settle the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
“We recognize the Autonomy Initiative presented by the Kingdom of Morocco as a unique solution” to this artificial conflict, stressed Lasana Andrews, Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the United Nations.
Speaking before members of the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly, the speaker called on all parties concerned to engage in the UN political process guided by dialogue, compromise, and respect for international law with a view to achieving a peaceful resolution of this regional dispute.
The diplomat also welcomed the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to facilitate the resumption of the political process.
