The President of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), Carlos René Hernandez, said a recent visit to Laayoune has reaffirmed the bloc’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and its sovereignty over all its territories.

Leading a Parlacen delegation to Morocco in mid-April, Hernandez said the trip confirmed to members the relevance of their backing for Morocco’s territorial integrity, calling the autonomy plan a “realistic and credible” solution to the decades-long dispute.

Speaking in Santo Domingo on the sidelines of Parlacen’s General Assembly, Hernandez thanked the Moroccan House of Councilors for its role in organizing a regional migration forum and for the hospitality extended during the delegation’s April 14–17 visit.

The visit included high-level meetings with Moroccan officials and culminated in the “Laayoune 2025 Declaration,” which praised the stability and development of the southern provinces and reaffirmed Parlacen’s position on the Sahara.

Moroccan representatives Abdelali Barouki and Ahmed Lakhrif welcomed the delegation’s stance, highlighting it as a milestone in deepening South-South parliamentary ties and marking the 10th anniversary of Morocco’s observer status in Parlacen.
