The Gambia, through its Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Sering Modou Njie, reiterated on Wednesday in Rabat its consistent support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, keenly welcoming the adoption by the United Nations Security Council of Resolution 2797 which consolidates the autonomy Initiative as the only solution for the settlement of this regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

“We welcome the latest UN Security Council resolution consolidating the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over the Sahara,” said the Gambian minister during a joint press briefing with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, following their talks.
