Senegalese National Assembly Speaker Amadou Mame Diop on Wednesday reiterated his country’s strong and unwavering support for the Sahara’s Moroccanness .

Diop, speaking after his discussions with Morocco’s House of Representatives Speaker Rachid Talbi El Alami, currently visiting Senegal on the top of a significant parliamentary delegation, added that the two countries share common views on international issues of mutual interest.

He praised the leadership role of HM King Mohammed VI in strengthening bilateral relations, expressing his deep gratitude to the Sovereign for His interest in developing bilateral relations, as evidenced by the Sovereign’s eight official visits to Senegal and His historic speech delivered from Dakar in 2016 on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the Green March.

For his part, Talbi El Alami emphasized that this is the first visit by a lower house speaker to the National Assembly of Senegal, praising the warm welcome extended on this occasion to the Moroccan parliamentary delegation by Senegalese MPs. In this regard, he highlighted the historical and fraternal relations that unite the two peoples.

Regarding the national cause, the Moroccan official praised Senegal’s consistent position supporting the Sahara’s Moroccanness.
