The Chilean daily “El Siete” has denounced the serious human rights violations committed by the polisario in the Tindouf camps, south of Algeria, against saharawis who are subjected to the most severe forms of torture and humiliation by their torturers and their accomplices in clandestine detention centers.
In an article written by Arnestina Fuentes, the Chilean media reported on testimonies obtained by a delegation from the NGO “Human Rights without Borders”, a Latin American human rights foundation, which visited the Kingdom’s southern provinces and met polisario victims who had suffered atrocious crimes over the years at the hands of polisario leaders.
El Siete explained that the delegation, made up of Juan Carlos Moraga, president of the foundation, Erika Botero, legal director, and Camila Araya, general secretary of the NGO, met with Saadani Maa Al-Ainin, who recounted how she had been physically and psychologically tortured as a child before being forcibly deported to Cuba.
“For two hours, the representatives of Human Rights without Borders listened to the testimony of Saadani, who wept as she recalled her suffering and the story of her family at the hands of this criminal and violator of human rights armed movement,” added the newspaper.
The delegation met former founding members of the polisario who had become disillusioned with the movement and decided to leave. They then joined the saharawi Movement for peace, and are now campaigning for human rights and a solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
