The Six countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) reiterated their constant positions in support of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, during the C24 ordinary session in New York.
In the statement read out by the representative of Qatar on behalf of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Sultanate of Oman, the GCC countries reiterate “the importance of the special strategic partnership between the Council and the Kingdom of Morocco and of implementing the joint action plan, as well as the positions of the GCC and its steadfast decisions in support of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and the preservation of Morocco’s security, stability, and territorial integrity.”
In that regard, the GCC welcomed the latest UN Security Council resolutions on the Moroccan Sahara.
The GCC states expressed their support for all the efforts made by Morocco and the international community to reach a peaceful solution to this regional dispute, recalling the importance for all parties to display wisdom, dialog and a spirit of compromise.
The GCC also stressed that resolving this dispute would contribute to peace and stability in the region.
