A delegation from the French city of Dreux visited Dakhla on Wednesday to explore economic potential, major development projects, and partnership opportunities in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, following the recent signing of a friendship pact between the two cities.
Led by Dreux Mayor Pierre Frédéric Billet, the group -including investors, business leaders, and cultural figures- showed strong interest in renewable energy and praised the region’s progress under Morocco’s Southern Provinces development model.
Mayor Billet told MAP that this visit is part of a dynamic of cooperation between the two communes, expressing his willingness to invest in the field of renewable energies.
“We plan to contribute to contribute to promoting this high-potential region, by supporting the growth of renewable energies and sustainable electrification solutions, in line with the decrees adopted in 2024 by Morocco to accelerate the Kingdom’s energy transition,” he noted.
Dakhla officials, including the heads of the communal and regional councils, highlighted ongoing infrastructure, energy, and urban development initiatives launched under His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The visit follows a previous Dakhla-Oued Eddahab delegation trip to Dreux, and included meetings with the regional governor and local officials to discuss future bilateral cooperation.
